Rap Club visit Crown Lane Studio
At Chestnut Park School, we take immense pride in nurturing our students’ creativity and providing them with opportunities to showcase their unique talents. Today, we are thrilled to share the incredible journey of our students who have taken their love for music to the next level. “Rap Club is a way for the kids to express their feelings through music” – Mr Myers.
Over the past term, a group of passionate and talented students has been part of our newly established Rap Club. Through this initiative, students have explored the art of rap, from writing lyrics to creating dynamic performances including our school end of year carnival. The club has been a space for self-expression, collaboration, and confidence-building, with students embracing the rhythm and rhyme to tell their stories and share their voices. The club has also encouraged the children to explore their love of language and reading and using those skills, they have worked together to write an original piece.
As the term progressed, the students’ dedication and skills caught the attention of the school and wider community. Their original rap creations, crafted with enthusiasm and hard work, stood out as a testament to the talent and creativity flourishing at Chestnut Park. Recognizing their potential, we were thrilled to take this experience to the next level by arranging a visit to Crown Lane Studio, a professional recording studio. This opportunity allowed our young artists to step into a real-world creative environment, record their original tracks, and see the fruits of their hard work come to life.
“Performing at a studio was exciting” – Zachariah Year 6.
“I’ve been in rap club since Year 5, I think it’s really cool that the school have allowed us to record this amazing song” – Julianne Year 6
The experience at Crown Lane Studio has not only inspired our students but has also shown them the possibilities that come with determination and creativity.
To celebrate their achievements, one of the two tracks that was recorded at Crown Lane Studio, will be released onto all major streaming platforms on Monday 27th January 2025 following an exclusive launch into our school community which will give Chestnut Park the opportunity to fundraise for our school on Thursday 28th November 2024.
We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the rap club leaders, Aekino James and Kareem Myers, the support from our staff members and Crown Lane Studio for making this experience possible. We hope this initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of arts in education and the incredible talent that we have at Chestnut Park. “Rap Club is a chance for the kids to boost their confidence and try new things” – Mr James
This journey is just the beginning for our young stars, and we look forward to seeing how they continue to shine!
